Longview Forest Management
After four generations providing responsibly sourced forest products to maple syrup lovers everywhere, Longview Forest Company was more than ready for an updated HQ. The company purchased a large piece of land with a half-finished timber frame house (foundation, timber frame, and sheathing).
The new office space needed to serve their collaborative team with open work space, as well as provide private offices, small and large conference rooms, and executive offices.
The client harvested their stand of Larch, a deciduous conifer that grows fast in cold climates, then cut and seasoned to be used for all of the exterior siding and flooring. The base of the building features wood charred using Shou Sugi Ban – a traditional Japanese wood preservation technique. The company built a custom rig for burning the wood.
