Mid Century Uplift

This well-loved home was originally designed by E. H. and M. K. Hunter in 1965. To give the interior a much needed refresh, we focused on the kitchen, living and dining rooms—with a focus on the large, original-to-1965 windows in these rooms.

Long-term owners of this cherished property, our clients had once renovated the kitchen to suit the needs of their growing family, but now wanted to update and refine the space. Working closely with our team on the layout, we decided to remove an old utility room to create a space that marries with the home’s airy, open aesthetic. It’s a joy to spend time in!

Outside, the exposed beams were rebuilt, insulation was added to both the exterior walls and roof, and windows were replaced to enhance and tighten up the thermal envelope, an important goal for the client.
